Join In! Local GOP Groups offer networking, education and volunteer opportunities.

The CCGOP has several sub groups who meet monthly to discuss issues, plan activities and enjoy fellowship with like-minded individuals. These include the Republican Women’s Group (RWCC), the Active Senior Republicans (ASR) and the Young Republicans (YR). Look here for meeting and event dates.

The RWCC met on September 27th at the Champaign Public Library. Our guest speaker for the evening was Demetre DeMonte, Illinois Republican National Committeewoman. Demetre gave an update from the RNC and spoke about renewed enthusiasm in the party. She discussed candidates who are running nationally and specifically mentioned Esther Joy King (IL-17) and also discussed better outreach to minority voters. During a lengthy discussion about voting integrity, she mentioned that 19 federal lawsuits are currently pending.

Many members expressed interest in serving as election judges for the next election to pursue election integrity on a local level. Our group also continues to collect items for the canteen run to assist those who are homeless in our community. We will be writing thank you notes to veterans in local nursing homes for Veteran’s Day at our next meeting on October 25 at 5:30pm at Jupiter's at the Crossing in Champaign. Pizza will be be served. Don Tracy, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party and will speak on election integrity.

The YR’s met on September 17th with guest speaker John Anthony, host of Chicago’s “Black and Right” radio who. State Representative Mike Marron also gave an update on legislation. They will meet again on October 19 at It’ll Do Bar in Mahomet. The meeting will start at 5:30 with guest speaker will be National Civil Right Award Winner, Ivan N. Dozier. All are welcome!

Active Senior Republicans (ASR) meet the first Monday of the month at the Champaign Library. Fellowship with fellow thinkers from 9‐9:30. Our speaker is first on the agenda, with the meeting usually concluding by 10:30 to 10:45. All ages are welcome.

A large and enthusiastic group met on October 4th. Our speaker was Circuit Judge Sam Limentato, the only Republican on the Champaign County bench. Judge Limentato was appointed in 2020 by unanimous vote of the Supreme Court of Illinois to fill the vacancy of retired Resident Circuit Judge Heidi Ladd. He discussed his role as family court judge, how his 25 years of legal experience, his respect for litigants, and his willingness to make the hard calls have infused his decisions on the bench. He left
his thriving practice to serve his community. He will be on the ballot in 2022, running only in Champaign County. We all need to actively support his candidacy.

November 1st is the next ASR meeting. Our speaker will be County Board member Jim Goss (District 1‐ Mahomet). Join us to hear a dedicated public servant call out the Democrats for their failure to address the needs of our community

We look forward to meeting new members at these events!
